Q: Do I need new wiring to use this system?
A: In most cases, no. D-Link Voice Center requires the same cabling you use for "data". Generally, this is CAT 5 or greater. Each handset contains a built in switch with an available ethernet port and a patch cable. This allows you to place a handset wherever you currently have a computer (or other data drop). You simply plug the cable in your computer (or other device) into the handset, then use the supplied patch cable to connect the device to the phone's switch port.
Q: Do I need a special or different network to use this?
A: No. Microsoft Response Point has been designed to coexist on your existing network. This means you will generally not be required to add or replace switches or other network devices. The base unit, gateway(s), and handsets all simply connect to the existing network.
Q: Will I be able to use my existin email server / service to receive voicemails as email attachments?
A: The base unit requires that it have an email server it can use to send messages through. Most email services and just about any local email server can be configured to allow these messages to be properly relayed.
Q: How much does it cost to make moves, adds, or changes?
A: One unique thing about Microsoft Response Point is the ease of administration. Most of our customers are able to manage all moves, adds, and changes on their own after our orientation training without any outside support. The design is incredibly user friendly and intuitive. Should you require assistance, we offer on demand services as well as contracted or block or hours support as required. |
